Our client is a leader in the development and manufacture of cleaning, hygiene and maintenance products for use across many industries including Hospitals, Utilities, Government organisations, Schools, Aerospace and many more. Products include absorbants, de-odorisers, de-greasers, general purpose cleaners, lubricants, personal hygiene, vehicle cleaners and water treatments.
They are now seeking a Product Development Chemist to join their team based in West Sussex (near Crawley).
The main responsibilities of the role will be to:
1. Define the raw material, finished product specifications and manufacturing steps where possible and required.
2. Liaise with suppliers to identify candidate materials to the agreed specification.
3. Develop analytical method of testing raw material (if required) and finished product or liaise with external laboratory to do so.
4. Identify need for product change parts * tooling etc.
5. Manage database system for the generation of Material Safety Data sheets
6. Co-ordinate production trials.
7. Organise and manage a process verification and validation system for NPD.
8. Liaise with the sales department and customers regarding development of new ideas.
9. Manage NPD projects.
10. Provide training and advice to the sales team on the use and qualities of new and existing products.
11. Develop and maintain SOPs` for development processes accordingly with the requirements of the standard ISO 9001:2000.
We are seeking applications from candidates who have hands-on experience of working with general cleaning products, de-greasers, lubricants or personal hygiene products and who have at least 1 years product development experience. You will also need to be articulate for work with sales staff and customers, organised and motivated.
A competitive salary of £20K - £30K depending on your experience is on offer plus benefits, training and career progression prospects.
